Bui Bolg are now heating up for St. Patrick’s Day Parades all around the country! The Bui Bolg workshop has been turned into fantastical fairground with amazing spinning floats and quirky characters to star in the National St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin. In this year’s parade, themed “Extraordinary world”, Bui Bolg will be highlighting the mundane absurdity of everyday life as the freaks are putting on a “normal show”. Bui Bolg’s pageant, named Bizarre Bazaar, will exhibit the strange goings on of Nintendo Boy, the wild accountants, the greedy clowns and even the tireless efforts of Merry Go Housework. This spectacular parade will be performed by members of the Bui Bolg Youth Group from Wexford and dancers from the Martina Leacy School of Dance from Enniscorthy. Weird and wonderful characters will include stilt walking Lions and Unicorns and talking Hamsters and Polar Bears who will be exhibiting the peculiar and puzzling antics of so the called “ordinary” world, or as Bui Bolg sees it . . . extra – ordinary!BBC World will be featuring The St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Dublin as part of a series on festivals around the world. Bui Bolg’s own Eddie Milbourne McCarthy will be narrating the programme and the cameras will also be following him around the Bui Bolg workshop to see our preparations for the parade!From Kilkenny and Cork to Dundalk and Ballon, and a even little closer to home in Wexford and Enniscorthy, Bui Bolg’s floats, costumes and props will be represented in force all over the country to bring the mischief and magic of the St. Patrick’s Festival to towns and cities all across the country. There will be blast off at the Wexford St. Patrick’s Day Parade featuring Bui Bolg’s “Space Race” which will include a magnificent Rocket to the moon. Wexford’s out of this world pageant is produced in conjunction with Clonard Youth Group. Enniscorthy town will be buzzing with excitement as Bui Bolg’s “Hive of Activity” performed by FDYS and Colaiste Bride. These floats and characters are sure to put a spring into spectator’s steps!
