MAKING SPACE 2012INFORMATION FOR PROFESSIONAL ARTS & YOUTH PRACTITIONERS MAKING SPACE – Annual Professional Forum In 2012, Young at Art is delighted to bring together a number of partners to offer 3 exciting strands with an emphasis on theatre and live performance – an exploration of collaboration and what it means; a showcase of work from this island; and a focus on work for the very young delivered through workshops, talks and performances. Making Space 1: Theatre SymposiumMonday 12 – Tuesday 13 March This intense 2-day programme will take participants through a schedule of talks, performances and panel discussions as well as providing social opportunities to discuss and share ideas. The theme is collaboration. Price: £50 Making Space 2 - All-Island ShowcaseWednesday 14 – Thursday 15 March This 2-day programme offers 9 performances plus an in-concert work in progress capturing new work being produced by both established and new artists on the island in 2012. Price: £60 Making Space 3 - Early Years FocusWednesday 14 – Saturday 17 March Work for the very young is one of the most vibrant areas of artistic development in theatre for young audiences. Through 3 distinct parts, Young at Art has brought together a number of partners to explore this movement, see work and discuss ideas. Part 1: Early Years Performance Programme This will introduce performances of existing and established work for young children, panel discusssions with artists and feature presentations. Price: £50 Part 2: 1-day programme for nursery workers and teachers with National Theatre Learning The National Theatre are offering an unique, exciting professional development day for nursery workers and teachers working with children aged 2 – 5 years. Price: £10 (to include lunch) Part 3: 1-day programme for professional drama and arts practitioners with National Theatre Learning NT Learning will share some of their discoveries about verbal storytelling, music and movement from the project and start to develop these techniques further in preparation for a new production in 2012.
