Opera Ireland is Ireland’s National Opera Company, producing two seasons of mainscale opera each year, Spring and Winter in the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin. Due to the temporary absence of our Marketing & Communications Executive, we have a short term maternity cover contract for that position from June/July 2008.

Job Description Marketing & Communications Executive

Reporting to Communications & Development Manager

Salary: On application

Terms of Contract: Full time (6 months contract covering maternity leave from June/July )

Overall Duties:

Assist the Communications & Development Manager to implement sales and marketing plans, achieving seasonal and annual objectives, targets and deadlines.

Specific Duties:

· Assist in the drawing up of annual and event driven sales and marketing plans for the company

· Implementation of those plans

· Evaluation and measurement of each campaign and annual results

· Support other functions within the company eg: fundraising department

· Maintain and update Opera Ireland website

· Assist in the management of the Opera Ireland Box Office

· Assist in the management of our advertising campaigns: Radio, Outdoor, Print & TV (Domestic and International), Liaise with OI designer, booking space etc. As well as direct marketing and public relations campaigns

· Co-ordinate production of marketing materials for the season; brochure, posters, programmes, OI branding etc.

· Collation and analysis of customer / audience data

· Co-ordinate branding and event management requirements for sponsors

· Provide ongoing administration support

· Assist in event management at events/launches etc.

· Any other relevant duties arising

 

The candidate will have

· Previous Marketing and or PR experience

· Previous experience in the arts or similar organisation an advantage but not compulsory

· Excellent organisational and administrative skills

· Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)

· A proven ability to multitask and an enthusiastic attitude.

· Excellent computer and writing skills combined with strong reporting skills

The Marketing and Communications Executive will on occasion have to undertake some weekend and evening work due to the nature of our business and the timing of our productions

As a member of a small team, everyone in Opera Ireland is expected to be flexible and versatile on occasions where we are required to assist in other areas of the company business.
