Box-Office Assistant
The Box Office Assistant is responsible for maintaining the efficient and effective running of the Riverbank Box Office. In the absence of the Front of House Manager, they are responsible for the running of the Box Office as Duty Manager.
The overall aims of the Box Office Assistant are to maintain a high standard of Box Office service, to assist the Front of House Manager in the formation of overall Box Office policy and to play an active part in the promotion of the Riverbank Arts Centre events.
Duties include:
1) Face to face, telephone, postal and internet sales of tickets and merchandise.
2) Liaise with Riverbank arts center staff, agents and visiting companies with regard to ticket allocations and sales.
3) Dealing with general inquiries from the public, visiting companies, contractors and visitors to the Riverbank, ensuring provision of excellent customer care.
4) The operation of the Provenue Databox Box Office system including the maintenance of the customer database for its efficient use by the Riverbank and ensuring the data used is compliant with the Data Protection Act.
5) Provision of customer and financial information as required by other departments; in particular the Director of the Arts Centre
6) Banking, storing and transporting Box Office monies to the Arts Centre’s requirements.
7) Complying with Box Office procedures for reporting daily takings, other income such as merchandise and trading income.
8) Implementing and monitoring Box Office procedures for merchandise stock control in conjunction with the Front of House Manager.
9) Maintaining the security of the Box Office to the Arts Centre’s requirements during operational and securing the area at the end of the day.
10) Box Office procedures also include emergency procedures as required.
11) Ensuring that all Box Office procedures conform with statutory and the Arts Centre own requirements with regard to Health and Safety, hygiene, environmental health and customer care.
12) Any other reasonable duties as required by the Front of House Manager to fulfill the role of Box Office Assistant.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate the following qualities
ESSENTIAL:
1) Experience of working in a computerised box office environment.
2) A friendly, enthusiastic and courteous manner.
3) Excellent communication skills.
4) Experience of working as part of a team.
5) The ability to work on own initiative.
6) Cash handling experience.
7) Must be fluent in English
DESIRABLE
It would be desirable, but not essential, if the successful candidate demonstrated the following qualities:
1) An interest in Theatre.
2) Knowledge of the ProVenueDatabox for Windows box office system.
