For many people the presentations of Charlie O'Neill, Mary Cloake and Mark Mortell during the Making the Public Case for the Arts session were the highlight of the conference. They set out what all of us need to do to argue for arts funding and the key messages we should stress.

At the closing session of the conference, Gavin Kostick announced that he was going to set up a Facebook group for his constituency and encourage resident arts workers to join.Sara Keating mentioned this in her report on the conference in The Irish Times.

Lots more people have now taken the initiative and created a group for their constituency - see below.

This means that when the time comes we will be able to demonstrate to councillors and TDs just how many arts workers live and vote in every constituency in Ireland. This is the first time something like this has been attempted.

There are currently 39 constituency Facebook groups as follows:

Remembers to join the group where you live and vote (this might be different to where you work) - if you are not on Facebook and wish to join you can email theatreforum@ireland.com and give your name, email and constituency.
